Info and Bio

This story begins in March 2002 when three reoccurring members of the bands Ma'die Kusse and Kar+te=zyAnose and two reoccurring members of the bands Mervilles and Artia decided to join forces and start a band together. These founding members of gazette were Ruki, Uruha, Aoi, Reita and Yune.

Before long gazette signed onto the Matina label where they released their first single Wakaremichi along with a video. A few months later the single went through it’s second press as their hard work of promoting themselves began to show. In fact it worked well enough that their first one-man was held later in the year. At the end of the year they played the “FINAL PRELUDE 2002~2003 Matina PRESENTS” before their record label dissolved.

Their record label going up in smoke wasn’t the only challenge the young band faced. Shortly after, in 2003, their drummer Yune announced that he was leaving them. Now they were label-less and drummer-less . Fortune was however looking their way as Kai, former drummer of Mareydi†Creia, took over Yune’s vacant spot. Shortly after they were picked up and signed on by PS Company and began to work hard to further what recognition they had already managed to gain. They began work on their first mini-album , Cockayne Soup, and went on their first real tour. In the months that followed they released two more mini-albums and finished out the rest of the year doing joint-tours.

The next few years was spent in a busy hustle and they continued to work at an exhausting page kicking out singles, an album, a photobook and touring like mad. All their effort was paying off as they were steadily gaining in popularity until finally their major breakout seemingly happened with the 2005 release of the single ‘Cassis’. A beautiful ballad along the same musical lines as Reila. Mainstream began to notice them and the fangirls swooned over the PV. This was their last single under the name ‘gazette’. Right afterwards they changed the spelling over into English as ‘the GazettE’.

By now, though still under PSC management, their music was being released by king records. The new album ‘NIL’ that contained cassis took off and so did their touring again. This time their touring took them outside of Asia for the first time and all the way over to Germany of two different shows. They continued to release new music in the mist of it all and even began placing higher in the music charts. Their website underwent a massive change to include English as well as other Asian languages to cater to their rising underground international fame that threatens to break them out into the open worldwide.
