Info and Bio
Some bands never find fame, others explode on the scene and Kra literally sneaks up on you after lurking around the music scene for years. As such not many people seem know much about this band which has been waiting for our attention patiently since 2001 when they were formed.
From there they set off on their long, slow trail steadily upwards to where they are today and are still climbing. They may have started off with little in the way of experience but they had big dreams and they planned to reach them. They immediately started to perform small shows and events where ever they could in order to get audiences aware of their existence. They also made demo's to pass around and get interest stirring. Effort paid off when they were noticed by PS Company who signed them on.
After signing onto PSC they released their first mini-album, Boku to no Himitsu in October 2002. They kept on their same course working as hard as they could and playing shows where ever they could find then as their popularity kept increasing in a just below the surface type way. The events they played were getting larger as they shared the stage with other better know bands including other bands on the PSC label.
Their first real big break came in the form of playing at the "Beauti-Fool's Fest '03", organized by the magazine Fool's mate. This exposed them to a much larger audience thanks to the higher profile bands that also played the event.
All this work didn't dampen their spirits though. In fact they created an 'alter ego' for their band by way of the band '36481?'. It was the same line up as kra, only dressed a little differently and only covering songs from other PSC bands including kagraa., Miyavi and the Gazette. They even released an album under that moniker.
Now let's focus back on Kra. Being an Oshare kei band they mix colorful fashion with a mellower and more melodic song style then their visual kei counterparts. Their catchy music combines wonderfully with the powerful vocal of Keiyuu and makes the listener take notice as soon as they begin which is the main reason behind their growing popularity.
Now you may ask yourself 'if they have been becoming more and more popular over the last handful of years then why can't I find much about them' or 'why haven't I really heard much of them' and the answer would be 'because the tortoise always wins the race'. Basically their climb has been slow enough to go unnoticed for the most part. One day you just realize they are there and they have already put out plenty of really great music.
They have finally gotten enough attention to be noticed by the fans outside of Japan and by a major record label. In December of 2006 they went major why still remaining under PSC management. They recessed their first Major single 'Heart Balance' and finally got to hold their long anticipated 'last indies live' show. As long as they can hold onto their momentum they should have no problem attaining a long lived career.
