Akito is the mysterious, young head of the Sohma family with quite a feared temper. While Akito bears what is call the core of the curse Akito does not change into any animal. But as the head of the family all other Sohma's especially the zodiac members must do as he says. No one can make a move without Akito's permission.

While Akito may be a born leader one would not say that the Sohma's are ruled with compassion. Part of Akito's hold is the fear they all possess. No one wants to cross Akito. Everyone knows the consequences of such actions. As long as Akito is happy then perhaps no one will suffer too much.
