Kyo Sohma
Kyo is quite the difficult guy to put it mildly. He is normally hotheaded, temperamental, moody, and rude. But when you look closer you can see a softness that hides just below his rough surface. While Kyo transforms into an animal thanks to the curse its not a member of the Chinese zodiac. He turns into the cat from the old folktale of the zodiac that was left out thanks to a trick pulled by the rat. Unfortunately for Kyo just as in the story he tends to be left out of everything, and is even shunned by the Sohma family.
Because of the old tales the one person that Kyo can not stand is Yuki, the rat. He spent months training trying to build on his martial arts skills just to try and defeat that rat once and for all. He feels that if he can just beat the rat then he will finally be accepted into the family. So now the downfall of Yuki is nearly the only thing he can think about.
Once he begins to live with Shigure he actually begins to try and be friendlier toward people in general. While it is a rocky start and he doesn't seem to be able to get it right often it is at least a beginning. But truthfully the only reason he tries at all is because deep down he want Tohru to like and accept him. But with the dark secret he is hiding about himself is that something she would ever be able to do?
