Alphonse Elric
Being the younger Elric brother Al is kind hearted, gentle, and much more rational than his older brother Ed. There seems to be nothing Al wouldn't do for the good of others around him. In fact he is always looking for the good qualities in all those around him. He just seems to have trouble feeling that things can be all bad.
Even with everything that has happened to him in his life he manages to hold onto that same warm disposition. His father left when he was little, his mother has died and he is no longer a regular boy. He is a soul stuck inside a suit of armor. But with everything he has lost he somehow manages not to look at the world with bitterness. He can still see the beauty that lays within life and the world itself.
He has made his mistakes and he knows that but also believes that someday if he tries hard enough that the mistakes of the past can be corrected and taken care of. The first thing out of all his dreams he longs to see happen is for his brother Ed to have his limbs restored back to normal. To him that is more important that getting his own body back because of the guilt he feels.
He feels he lost his body out of his own foolishness. That he can handle. However the fact that his own brother sacrificed his arm to save him from his own mistake is a burden that he can not bear. He has vowed that as soon as possible his brother will be the first thing they fix.
