Kagome Higurashi was a normal 15 year old Japanese girl until she fell down the bone eaters well. The well was located on the ancient shrine that the Higurashi family ran and took care of. She is generally kind hearted though like any woman she can be a bit moody and temperamental.

Now she spends her time divided between the present and the past feudal ere of old Japan. When in the past her family, mainly her grandpa, has to come up with as many excuses for her absence as they can. This is quite the task considering that the majority of her time is spent back in the feudal era. Though she has problems of her own when in the past in the past she faces many problems. The biggest one of all is collecting the shards of the sacred jewel that was embedded deep within her body that she accidentally broke after it had come out.

Along the way she not only finds out first about some of the history she had heard about in school but she finds out things she never realized about herself as well. For example, she is really the reincarnation on a powerful priestess from the feudal era named Kikyo. Not only that but she discover the feelings and emotions that she gains for the half-demon Inu-yasha whom she is traveling with. Though she would never admit it she may just have fell head over heals for him.
