The powerful leader of the wolf demon tribe. Koga's relationship with the group is stable at best. While he is not necessarily a villain at this point he is Inu-yasha's rival in more ways than one. Nearly as soon as Koga showed up he declared his unfailing love for Kagome. A bit that will bug Inu-yasha to the very end. Koga pops in and out of the show with no rhyme or reason. However his bitter feud with Inu-yasha and his love for Kagome never change no matter what.

Koga too is After the demon Naraku who used his incarnation Kagura to kill all of Koga comrades and blame it on Inu-yasha in an attempt to get the two to fight to the death. While most of his tribe is now gone he still goes in search to avenge his fallen brothers and bring Naraku down. That is if Inu-yasha doesn't beat him to it first.

While Koga can be kind and loyal he shares a lot of the same personality that Inu-yasha has. They are too similar in nature to ever fully get along. But that aside when Kagome is in trouble or the need arises he can work with anyone to try and save the day, including Inu-yasha.
