Sesshomaru
The mysterious, enigmatic older brother of Inu-yasha. For reasons unknown to Inu-yasha, Sesshomaru despises his little brother and longs to kill him. Not only does Sesshomaru want the sword that was left to Inu-yasha but he appears to despise the half-demon in part because of their fathers demise.
Sesshomaru starts of with a known hatred of all humans and anything that has to do with them. This could be in part for the fact that he does not want to repeat his fathers mistakes and have what he views as such a weakness. However he ends up saving the life of a little girl named Rin who had been killed by Koga's wolfs. From then on he keeps her around acting as her guardian and protector. If Rin is in trouble he is right there to save her. While he still claims to like or need nothing, Rin and Jaken have taken a prominent, irreplaceable role in his life.
Further in the series however we see yet another change in Lord Sesshomaru. While he still claims to want to kill his brother he doesn't seem to fight with real intent to kill. Plus on more than one occasion he has actually came to his brothers aid and saved his life. Not that they are ever friendly after that mind you. The brotherly squabbles between the two of them are near legendary.
When not chasing his brother or protecting Rin, Sesshomaru is in search of Naraku to try and Destroy that arrogant demon once and for all. When that happens will he claim his rightful lordship over the western lands? Who knows, but his place in life is definitely waiting.
