Botan is the messenger of the Spirit would that guilds souls to the spirit world when they die. She is much like the grim reaper, if you will. However for a person with such a grim job she is not what you would expect in the least. She is quite friendly, upbeat and very outgoing. Nearly the complete oppostite of what you would expect her to be.

With as much as she has normally to do her work load was added to as soon as Yusuke appeared. Koenma ordered her to become Yusuke's personal assistant. This was a move that proved very beneficial to Yusuke. She is quite knowledgeable and often hold the key to them figuring out their next move. Just like everyone else Yusuke has found himself surrounded by, she is invaluable.
