Genkai is a wise old psychic with a legend that proceeds her. She is well known throughout the Spirit World. Not only is she a very powerful psychic she is also the master of the Reidoha (aka the Spirit Wave). The Spirit wave is an ultimate fighting technique that she desired to pass on to a worthy pupil before she dies. After holding a contest of sorts to find that worthy student she takes in and trains Yusuke.
While she may be old her strength and agility are simply amazing. She constantly stuns Yusuke with her ability. Not to mention stuns him with the fact that he can hardly keep up with her training. But the one thing she hates above all is a slacker and that is the one thing that she is determined that he is not going to have the choice to be.
