How to Spot a Bootleg/Pirated item
This is not actually near as easy as it sounds. Once upon a time the quality of these products were so poor that you could not miss them, however with today's technology they can create/recreate an exact replica of the product they have stolen. Every last detail will be carefully recreated in such a way that the unknowing eye would never know that they just received a illegitimate product. Thankfully they are not so slick yet as we can not find some ways to tell them apart from the real thing. Below is some good things to be on the lookout for in several branches of merchandise.
Keep in mind though the best way to spot a bootleg no matter what is to look for the proper copyright and licensing information on the product. You will see this in the guide again and again. Why? Because, NO legitimate company who owns the license will ever forget to place this on the item. It if is not on there anywhere on the product then its likely a pirated item.
Also, always beware of any online auction site including eBay. The majority of the products you will find on these sites are actually pirated goods. It's very hard to find legitimate products in online auctions.
