Leon's closest friend and the tactician of their company, Mathias has been ill since the death of his wife a year before the start of the game. It was he that tipped Leon off to the origin of the monsters in the other knight's lands and as to the whereabouts of Leon's betrothed, Sara. He is absent through the majority of the game, and what role he will come to play is unknown.
