Gau
Gau is the wild child of the Veldt, a boy that won't appear unless you have some food on hand. Once you feed him he will happily join you, but only after you listen to his famous "Mr. Thou" rant. He is also quite the friendly little guy, though he prefers Sabin's company above everyone else's.
A bit is known about Gau. His father threw him out onto the Veldt as a newborn, after his mother died giving birth to him. The crackpot old man was senile and blamed the boy for her death, claiming he was a monster. Since then, Gau was raised by the wild animals of the Vedlt, and he has become a bit of a kleptomaniac, stealing things from the nearby town of Mobliz.
In combat, Gau prefers the abilities he learned from creatures on the Veldt. When a Rage attack is selected he mimics the attacks of that particular monster until he is either wounded or the battle ends. Leap is what he does when he needs to learn more attacks. Anywhere on the Veldt, he can leap into a group of monster and learn not only their abilities, but the abilities of the monsters that the party fights before his return.
