Final Fantasy X, as all others, puts the world on the brink of destruction and only you have the power to stop it. You start off in the beautiful city of Zanarkand. However before you, Tidus, can even finish watching his blitzball game all heck breaks loose. Our young hero(he will be one, don't worry) then finds himself having to fight his way through a swarm of creatures with the help of an friend. Only what this friend is really leading you towards is the start of your entire adventure.
Tidus finds himself lost in a mysterious place that reminds him nothing of the home he had known. Without giving away to many spoilers for those few who may not have picked this up yet, lets just say it's a case of he is not in Kansas anymore. Spira is a very familiar yet somehow different world from the one he was once in. Like any good world it has loads of treasures and people for you to make either friends or enemies out of. The first real place of note is Besaid where your team starts to come together.
In Besaid you meet the obvious love intrest and her friends. And them being her friends will end up making them your friends. However don't think that all is as easy as it seems. They may not all be fond of you at first. Now Yuna, the love intest, is the daughter of a High Summoner and has decided to become one herself. In Spira it is very obvious that these people and there religion is VERY important. But just as every good faith they are not exactly all on the up and up.
The game is spent fighting your way through her pilgramage and trying to put all the missing pieces into place that don't add up about Yevon. By the end everyone must deal with the fact that their whole lives had been molded to a faith that was not in their best intreast.
I really could go on and on about the story itself but pieces of that are covered in the character summaries. Besides its hard to go to far into this game without giving major spoilers away that people should get to experience for themselves. That said I will let you know that FFX has a very in depth storyline and characters that actually let you in on their lifes. So unlike other games this ones story is not just as shallow as a puddle. Plus for the time it was released(and even still) the graphics are amazing. When this game came out it blew all others away and raised that bar even higher. But what else would we come to expect from a FF game?
The game play itself is pretty solid too. The Spear Grid is a very fun little toy to play around with. The battles are very much the FF standard so while that itself was not very innovative there is nothing wrong with it either. All and all it has the feel of a good FF game while bringing it all that step ahead. If you like Fantasies, RPG's or Final Fantasy itself and have not played this game I would recommend you go check it out.
